The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its primary election timetable for newly restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, as well as constituencies affected by upcoming bye-elections in other states.
The development follows a decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to restore additional State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states and schedule party primaries ahead of the elections.
INEC had fixed August 21 to 25, 2026 for the conduct of party primaries for the restored constituencies, while elections into the affected constituencies are scheduled for September 19, 2026.
According to INEC, the decision followed court judgments directing the restoration of the affected constituencies.
In a statement issued by National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, the electoral commission said the restoration was carried out in compliance with the court rulings.
APC Lists Delta, Kogi Constituencies
Following the INEC announcement, the APC released details of the constituencies where its primary elections will be conducted.
In Delta State, the affected constituencies are:
- Abraka State Constituency
- Isoko North II State Constituency
- Ughelli South II State Constituency
In Kogi State, the party listed:
- Yagba West II State Constituency
The party also included constituencies affected by forthcoming bye-elections in other states.
These are:
- Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Gombe State
- Disina State Constituency, Bauchi State
- Sakwa State Constituency, Bauchi State
- Udu State Constituency, Delta State
- Dawakin Kudu State Constituency, Kano State
The elections into the affected constituencies have been scheduled for September 19, 2026.
APC Primaries Begin August 18
The APC’s primary election process commenced on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and is expected to continue until Monday, August 24.
The timetable covers the screening and nomination process for aspirants seeking the party’s tickets for the various constituencies.
The development is expected to intensify political activities in Delta, Kogi and the other states ahead of the September elections.
APC Announces Nomination Fees
According to the APC timetable, aspirants seeking the party’s ticket for State House of Assembly seats are required to pay ₦1 million for an expression of interest form and ₦5 million for a nomination form.
For the House of Representatives, aspirants are required to pay ₦1 million for the expression of interest form and ₦9 million for the nomination form.
The party also announced concessions for certain categories of aspirants.
Female aspirants, youths and persons living with disabilities will receive a 50 per cent discount on the nomination form for their respective positions.
However, they will still be required to pay the standard ₦1 million expression of interest fee.
The APC’s timetable sets the stage for the party’s internal contest ahead of the September 2026 elections, with aspirants expected to intensify mobilisation and consultations across the affected constituencies.
