Former South-West Coordinator of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 election, Sola Ebiseni, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
Ebiseni, who is also the Secretary-General of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation Afenifere, announced the move during a meeting with Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the Government House in Akure on Thursday.
He said he and his supporters would be integrated into the APC campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general elections, a position Aiyedatiwa also confirmed during the meeting.
Speaking after the meeting, Ebiseni said his decision to support Tinubu’s second-term bid was based on what he described as the national interest.
He said he was the “forerunner” of a wider group of Nigerians who had been consulting across the six geopolitical zones over the past year.
“I can assure you that I am just the forerunner for a group of Nigerians who have quietly moved across the six geopolitical zones in the last year. We have also engaged with political gladiators in the process,” Ebiseni said.
He added that the findings from the consultations that informed their decision would be made public in greater detail.
“Our findings, which informed our declaration for the President’s second term, will be made public in greater detail soon,” he said.
Ebiseni also cited security as one of the issues behind his decision to support the President.
He argued that the country should build on the current administration’s security approach rather than introduce an entirely new structure.
“Above all, particularly in the area of security, it is in the national interest to support the current Commander-in-Chief and build on his new salutary security architecture, rather than experimenting with a new architecture and design,” he said.
Other reports on the declaration said Ebiseni also referred to issues including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and proposed state police while explaining his support for continuity in the administration’s policies.
Receiving Ebiseni and his supporters, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the former Labour Party campaign coordinator’s political experience and activities across Ondo State would be useful to the APC campaign.
The governor also pointed to Ebiseni’s role in Afenifere and other socio-cultural organisations.
“Chief Ebiseni’s position as Secretary-General of Afenifere and his activities in other sociocultural organisations are an added advantage to the tasks ahead,” Aiyedatiwa said.
He added that Ebiseni and his supporters would contribute to the campaign for Tinubu’s re-election.

Aiyedatiwa further explained that the presence of the APC state chairman at the meeting was intended to demonstrate the party’s readiness to integrate Ebiseni and his supporters into its campaign structure ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Ebiseni’s move represents a shift from his previous role as South-West Coordinator of Peter Obi’s 2023 Presidential Campaign Council under the Labour Party.
His declaration for Tinubu comes as political parties and their supporters continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development also places Ebiseni, a prominent political figure in Ondo State and an Afenifere official, within the APC campaign structure in the state.
