The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast widespread cloudy and thundery weather conditions across different parts of Nigeria from Wednesday to Friday.
In its weather outlook released in Abuja on Tuesday, the agency predicted varying levels of thunderstorms and rainfall across the northern, North-Central and southern regions during the three-day period.
For the northern region on Wednesday, NiMet expects patches of clouds, with morning thunderstorms and light rainfall likely in parts of Taraba and Kebbi states.
Later in the afternoon or evening, isolated thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall are expected across parts of Taraba, Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara, Jigawa, Kano and Kaduna states.
In the North-Central region, morning thunderstorms with light rainfall are expected in parts of Nasarawa, Niger, Benue and the Federal Capital Territory.
NiMet said most parts of the region could experience thunderstorms with moderate rainfall later in the day.
Across the southern region, the agency forecast a cloudy atmosphere with chances of morning rain in parts of Lagos, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Cross River, Abia, Imo, Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom states.
Moderate rainfall is expected over most parts of the southern region later on Wednesday.
NiMet predicted patches of clouds across the northern region on Thursday, with morning thunderstorms and light rain possible in parts of Jigawa, Kano, Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe and Kaduna states.
By afternoon or evening, thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall are expected in Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba states.
The North-Central region is expected to experience sunny conditions with patches of clouds. However, morning thunderstorms and light rain could occur in parts of the FCT, Nasarawa, Plateau, Niger and Benue states.
NiMet expects thunderstorms with moderate rainfall across the entire North-Central region later in the day.
In the South, light morning rain is forecast for parts of Ondo, Ogun, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Lagos, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states, followed by continued rainfall over most parts of the region.
For Friday, NiMet expects partly cloudy conditions over the northern region, with morning thunderstorms and moderate rain possible in Taraba and Adamawa states.
Afternoon or evening thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are forecast across Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Adamawa and Taraba states.
The central region is expected to have sunny weather with patches of clouds, while morning thunderstorms and light rain may affect parts of the FCT, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa and Niger states.
Most parts of the North-Central region could experience moderate thunderstorms later in the day.
In the southern region, NiMet forecast a cloudy atmosphere with morning moderate rainfall possible in parts of Ondo, Ebonyi, Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.
Moderate rainfall is also expected across most parts of the southern region later on Friday.
The meteorological agency identified a high possibility of flooding in parts of Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states during the forecast period.
NiMet also warned that strong winds could occur ahead of thunderstorms and advised residents to secure loose objects that could be blown away or cause injuries.

The agency urged residents in areas at risk of flash floods to activate emergency response measures and avoid driving during periods of heavy rainfall.
It also advised people to disconnect electrical appliances from power sockets during thunderstorms and stay away from tall trees because of the risk of falling branches or damaged trees.
Airline operators were advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports and flight documentation from NiMet to support safe and effective flight planning.
The agency encouraged members of the public to remain updated through its official weather information and advisories.
