International police agency Interpol has issued a Red Notice for a Ukrainian woman wanted by authorities in Monaco over a bomb attack that injured three people, including a Ukrainian-born businessman.
The notice, published on Friday, identifies the suspect as Anastasiia Berezovska, 39, who is wanted in connection with an explosion that occurred in the Principality of Monaco.
Monaco authorities accuse Berezovska of attempted murder, placing an explosive device on a public road with criminal intent and participating in a criminal conspiracy.
Interpol Issues International Alert
An Interpol Red Notice is a request circulated to law enforcement agencies worldwide seeking the location and provisional arrest of a wanted person pending extradition or other legal action.
While a Red Notice is not itself an international arrest warrant, it alerts member countries that the individual is wanted by a national judicial authority.
The notice issued at Monaco’s request identifies Berezovska as the principal suspect in the bombing investigation.
Authorities have not disclosed her current whereabouts, and international efforts are now underway to locate and apprehend her.
Three People Injured in Explosion
According to the Interpol notice, the explosion left three people injured, including a businessman of Ukrainian origin.
Officials have not released additional details regarding the identities of the other victims or the extent of their injuries.
Investigators have also not publicly disclosed the exact location or circumstances surrounding the bombing beyond the charges outlined in the Red Notice.
The case remains under active investigation by Monaco’s judicial authorities.
Charges Include Attempted Murder
The Red Notice lists several serious criminal allegations against Berezovska.
They include:
- Attempted murder.
- Placing an explosive device on a public road with criminal intent.
- Criminal conspiracy.
The allegations have been filed by authorities in Monaco, which are seeking international cooperation in locating the suspect.
Interpol’s publication of the notice enables police agencies in its member countries to identify and, where national laws permit, detain the suspect pending extradition proceedings.
International Cooperation
Interpol, headquartered in Lyon, France, coordinates international police cooperation among its member countries by facilitating information sharing and helping track fugitives across borders.
Red Notices are among the organisation’s best-known tools for assisting national authorities in locating suspects wanted for serious criminal offences.
Whether a suspect is arrested depends on the laws and procedures of the country where they are located.
If Berezovska is found, any extradition request would be handled under the legal framework applicable between Monaco and the country in which she is detained.
Investigation Continues
Monaco authorities have not announced a possible motive for the bombing or disclosed whether investigators believe additional suspects were involved.
Likewise, no information has been released regarding when the explosive device was allegedly planted or whether the intended target was one of those injured.
The publication of the Interpol Red Notice marks the latest step in the international investigation as authorities seek to locate the suspect and advance criminal proceedings.
Further updates are expected as investigators continue gathering evidence and coordinating with law enforcement agencies abroad.
