The Lagos State Government has commenced consultations with residents and community leaders across the state’s five divisions as it begins preparations for the 2027 budget.
The exercise kicked off with the Ikeja Division consultation held at the Multipurpose Hall of Radio Lagos in Agidingbi, Ikeja.
Residents and community representatives used the forum to present their priorities, highlight pressing needs and review the progress made on requests submitted during previous budget consultations.
Speaking at the Ikeja forum, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, said the annual engagement was designed to give residents a direct opportunity to influence government priorities.
George explained that the consultations enable the government to hear directly from citizens about projects and programmes they want included in the coming budget.
According to him, the government visits the different divisions each year to listen to residents and understand their expectations for the next budget cycle.
The commissioner said the consultation also provides an opportunity for the government to give residents feedback on requests made during the previous year’s engagement.

He noted that officials presented an account of what had been requested by residents in the previous consultation and outlined actions taken by the government in response.
Following the government’s presentation, residents were given the opportunity to identify additional priorities and communicate their expectations for the 2027 Lagos State budget.
The consultation is expected to continue across the remaining divisions as the state government gathers input that will help shape its spending and development priorities for the coming year.
