Oborevwori Inaugurates Zenith Bank Osubi Branch as Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday commissioned the new Zenith Bank Plc branch in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, describing the project as a major milestone for economic growth, financial inclusion and private sector development in Delta State.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Oborevwori said the opening of the branch represents more than the establishment of a banking facility, noting that it reflects growing investor confidence in Delta State and its economic prospects.
According to the governor, the decision by Zenith Bank to establish its 19th branch in the state demonstrates trust in the administration’s efforts to create a business-friendly environment that encourages investment and economic expansion.
“This is more than just a banking facility coming on stream. It is a strong vote of confidence in the future of Delta State and in the opportunities that lie before us,” Oborevwori stated.
The governor commended the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, Dr. Adaora Umeoji, and the bank’s management team for fulfilling their commitment to establish a branch in Osubi.
He recalled that the bank had promised to bring banking services to the community shortly after his administration assumed office and expressed satisfaction that the promise had now been fulfilled.
Governor Oborevwori noted that the new facility is currently the only commercial bank operating within the area, making it a landmark development for residents who have long sought access to modern financial services.
“It is worthy of note that this branch is the only bank in the whole of Okpe Local Government Area as it is today, and the significance of this bank to our people cannot be overemphasized because of the impact it will have on the economy of this local government,” he said.
The governor added that residents had agitated for years to have a banking institution in the area and assured them that more financial institutions would be encouraged to establish operations within the community.
Oborevwori attributed the growing number of investments in Delta State to the prevailing peace and security across the state, which he described as critical to sustainable economic development.
According to him, deliberate efforts by the government to strengthen security, maintain stability and improve infrastructure have created an environment where businesses can thrive and investors can operate with confidence.
He explained that the Zenith Bank Osubi branch would provide easier access to banking services for residents, support entrepreneurs, strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises, improve financial inclusion and stimulate economic activities within Osubi and neighbouring communities.
“When a leading financial institution such as Zenith Bank expands its presence in Delta State, it sends a powerful message that Delta is open for business and ready for greater investment,” the governor added.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace, improving infrastructure and collaborating with private sector partners to create jobs and improve the standard of living of Deltans.
Earlier, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, Dr. Adaora Umeoji, thanked Governor Oborevwori for supporting private sector investments and creating a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.
She particularly acknowledged the governor’s contribution in making the project possible through the donation of the land on which the branch was built.
“The Governor actually donated this land free of charge. He demonstrated the large heart that Deltans are known for and his dedication to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive,” she said.

Umeoji praised the governor’s M.O.R.E Agenda, noting that infrastructure development and socio-economic transformation have become visible across Delta State since he assumed office.
She described the opening of the Osubi branch as another step toward expanding access to world-class banking services and strengthening economic opportunities for residents.
According to her, the Osubi facility marks Zenith Bank’s 19th branch in Delta State since the bank established its first branch in Warri in 1994.
Industry observers say the new branch will play a significant role in boosting commercial activities, supporting local businesses and improving access to financial services in one of Delta State’s rapidly growing communities.
The development also highlights the increasing partnership between government and the private sector in driving economic growth, attracting investment and promoting sustainable development across Delta State.
