A Delta State High Court has ordered the remand of content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, over allegations surrounding the rape and death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro.
The court granted the remand application on Friday, September 4, 2026, following the completion of investigations into the case.
Ogbonna was taken to the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre, from where he is expected to be brought before the court as proceedings continue.
Counsel to Favour’s family, Awele Ideal, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Friday.
She said the court had granted the application to remand Ogbonna and that the matter would now proceed towards prosecution.
“Today the 4/9/2026, The application to remand Mr Ifeanyi Ogbonna (Odogwu Asaba) was heard and granted by the Court,” she said.
Ideal added that the case would now be handled through the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Justice, the Attorney-General and the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The lawyer said the autopsy and toxicology test results had been released to the police investigation team.
She said the results, alongside other evidence gathered during the investigation, had been incorporated into the report prepared for prosecution and trial.
According to her, the evidence would help the relevant authorities determine the circumstances surrounding Favour’s death and pursue the case in court.
Ideal also said she was representing Favour’s family on a pro bono basis and would continue providing legal and financial support to ensure the case was properly pursued.
“I still hold the brief of this case for late Favour’s family on Probono basis rendering my legal services and financial support to ensure that no stone is left unturned,” she said.
She added that she would continue to provide updates as the legal process progresses, stressing that “Justice is everyone’s business.”
The development was also confirmed by Ossai Ovie Success, Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Ossai announced that Ogbonna had been taken to the correctional facility following the court’s decision.
“Court Remands Ifeanyi Ogbonna, ‘Odogwu Asaba,’ Over Late Favour’s Case,” he wrote.
Ossai also said the autopsy and toxicology results had been released to the police investigation team and incorporated into the report prepared for prosecution.
He said Ogbonna would remain in custody and be brought before the court as the case progresses.
Ogbonna was arrested by the police following allegations that he raped Favour, who later died after ingesting a toxic substance.
The case attracted public attention after Favour reportedly recorded a video before her death in which she spoke about her alleged encounter with the content creator.
According to reports, Favour had travelled to Asaba after allegedly being invited by Ogbonna for a content creation training programme advertised on social media.
She was subsequently alleged to have been taken to a hotel, where she allegedly suffered rape and assault.
After returning home, Favour reportedly told her parents about the incident and recorded a video describing what she said had happened.
She later ingested a toxic substance and died.
Following a petition by Favour’s family, the Delta State Commissioner of Police directed the Effurun Area Command to investigate the allegations.
Ogbonna was subsequently arrested as police commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the case.
The autopsy and toxicology examinations were conducted as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding Favour’s death.
The results have now been incorporated into the investigation report submitted for the next stage of the legal process.

The latest court order marks a transition from the investigative phase towards prosecution.
The Ministry of Justice, through the Attorney-General and Director of Public Prosecutions, is expected to take responsibility for the prosecution as the case progresses.
Ogbonna will remain in custody at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre and is expected to appear before the court during subsequent proceedings.
The allegations against him remain subject to judicial determination.
Odogwu Asaba remains presumed innocent unless and until he is found guilty by a court of law.
