Tinubu Appoints Namdas as the new Director General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), while also naming former lawmaker Patrick Obahiagbon and reappointing Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Directors of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).

The appointments, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, are aimed at strengthening leadership within key federal agencies as the administration continues implementing its Renewed Hope Agenda across strategic sectors.

With Tinubu Appoints Namdas, Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas takes over the leadership of the Border Communities Development Agency following the resignation of Dr. Dakorinama Alabo George, who stepped down to pursue an elective political office in his home state.

Namdas is a former member of the House of Representatives, where he represented the Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo Federal Constituency of Adamawa State. During the 8th National Assembly, he served as the spokesperson of the House of Representatives and earned recognition for his contributions to legislative communication and public engagement.

Beyond politics, Namdas has built a successful career in journalism and public relations. He previously served as Chief Press Secretary to former Adamawa State Governor Boni Haruna, bringing years of media, governance and administrative experience to his new role.

He also recently participated in the Adamawa State governorship primary election before receiving the presidential appointment.

As Director General of the BCDA, Namdas is expected to oversee programmes aimed at promoting development, improving infrastructure and enhancing the welfare of residents living in Nigeria’s border communities.

In a related development, President Tinubu appointed former federal lawmaker Patrick Obahiagbon as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial, of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).

Obahiagbon replaces Engineer Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who resigned from the position to pursue his political ambition in Edo State.

Widely known for his distinctive public speaking style and legislative experience, Obahiagbon previously served in both the Edo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, where he played active roles in national legislative affairs.

The President also reappointed Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director, Corporate Services, of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company.

Umeoji had earlier resigned from the position to contest for political office in Anambra State but has now returned to continue contributing to the management and administration of the power company.

A former member of the House of Representatives representing Aguata Federal Constituency in Anambra State during the 9th National Assembly, Umeoji brings extensive legislative and administrative experience to the role.

The appointments reflect the Tinubu administration’s continued efforts to position experienced public servants and professionals in strategic institutions responsible for national development, infrastructure and service delivery.

Analysts believe the leadership changes at the BCDA and NDPHC will support ongoing government initiatives aimed at improving border community development, strengthening power sector management and enhancing institutional efficiency.

The Border Communities Development Agency plays a vital role in delivering infrastructure, education, healthcare and social amenities to communities located along Nigeria’s international borders, while the Niger Delta Power Holding Company remains a key player in expanding electricity generation and transmission across the country.

With Tinubu Appoints Namdas and announces new leadership for the NDPHC, expectations are high that both agencies will accelerate project implementation and contribute more effectively to the Federal Government’s economic growth and development objectives.

The appointments further underscore President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening governance through experienced leadership capable of delivering impactful public service under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
