Tinubu Swears In Federal Commissioners as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially administered the Oath of Office to eight newly appointed Federal Commissioners for the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the National Population Commission (NPC).

The swearing-in ceremony, held on Monday, marks another step in the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen key national institutions responsible for fiscal administration, revenue allocation and population management.

President Tinubu administered the oath to two commissioners appointed to the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and six commissioners appointed to the National Population Commission (NPC).

The newly inaugurated RMAFC Commissioners are Hajiya Amina Ibrahim Gamawa and Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad.

The six newly sworn-in members of the National Population Commission are Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi, Professor Sadiq Isah Radda, Suleiman Umar, Dr Isiaka Alada Yahaya, and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo.

Experienced Professionals Join Key Federal Institutions

Among the new appointees is Hajiya Amina Ibrahim Gamawa, a legal practitioner from Bauchi State who holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Jos and a Postgraduate Diploma in General and Investigative Journalism from the London School of Journalism.

Throughout her career, she has served in several federal institutions, including the National Assembly, Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). She also played a key role in establishing Nigeria’s National Blood Transfusion Service.

Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad, from Kaduna State, also brings extensive public service experience. A law graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, he previously served as Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board before becoming Federal Commissioner and later Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

New NPC Commissioners Bring Diverse Experience

The newly appointed National Population Commission members come from diverse professional backgrounds spanning academia, public administration, healthcare, information technology, immigration and urban planning.

Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, a former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, previously chaired the state’s COVID-19 Task Force and played a significant role in strengthening legislative-executive cooperation during his tenure.

Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi, from Ekiti State, is an information systems and supply chain management expert with over 25 years of international consulting experience. Before his appointment, he served as Executive Commissioner for Corporate Services at the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

Renowned academic Professor Sadiq Isah Radda of Bayero University Kano also joins the commission after distinguished service in higher education and anti-corruption initiatives, including membership of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC).

Former Deputy Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service Suleiman Umar brings decades of experience in intelligence, investigation, enforcement and national security administration.

Dr Isiaka Alada Yahaya, a long-serving National Population Commission official, rose through the ranks from Public Affairs Officer to Director of Public Affairs before his latest appointment as Federal Commissioner.

Meanwhile, Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo, who was reappointed for a second term, has previously served as Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Permanent Secretary, Commissioner in several ministries and senior official within the National Population Commission.

Strengthening National Institutions

The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission plays a crucial constitutional role in monitoring revenue accruals, advising on revenue allocation among the three tiers of government and determining remuneration for public office holders.

Similarly, the National Population Commission remains Nigeria’s primary agency responsible for population data management, census coordination, civil registration and demographic planning essential for national development.

The appointments reflect the Tinubu administration’s continued emphasis on strengthening governance through experienced leadership across strategic federal institutions.

The newly sworn-in commissioners are expected to contribute significantly to policy implementation, institutional reforms and improved service delivery within their respective commissions.
